  • David Heflin

    David Heflin
    Founder and President

    David Heflin is the founder and president of Broken and Mended. He is married to Katie and has three kids. David has been a preacher for 19 years and founded Broken and Mended in 2018 after being inspired by his own battle with chronic pain to connect other hurting people to Jesus and each other. David has a B.A. in Bible from Oklahoma Christian University and a Master of Arts in Religion from Azusa Pacific University. He resides in Woodward, OK.

  • Nora Ellis

    Nora Ellis
    Volunteer

    Nora Ellis, a volunteer with Broken and Mended, Inc., began learning about chronic pain and illness at a young age when her father was diagnosed with Lyme disease. She is thankful her own experience with autoimmune disease diagnoses prepared her to support her family members and friends who live with chronic pain syndrome, cancer, kidney disease, and various autoimmune diseases. Nora credits her knowledge to the people God continually places in the right places at the right times while she studies and travels throughout the United States.

    Dr. RaeDeen Keahiolalo
    Board Member

    RaeDeen has a deep compassion for people who are hurting. She has lived with chronic illness since the age of 10 years old. Despite the related challenges, RaeDeen knows life is a journey and there is always hope. She received her Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Hawaii and is self-employed. Her family is her joy.

  • Jim Dowell

    Jim Dowell
    Treasurer

    Jim has been around chronic illness and suffering from a young age. Jim’s mother, Wilnetta, suffered from numerous chronic diseases that steadily progressed and caused increasing pain for decades. Jim has experienced the impact of such chronic conditions on all involved, including family members. Jim’s mother was one of the first participants in Broken and Mended.

    Jim is an attorney in Oklahoma. He enjoys traveling, any type of outdoor adventure, and is grateful to be a part of the great work of Broken and Mended.

  • Mark Price

    Mark Price
    Vice President

    Mark is married to Velda and lives in Woodward, Oklahoma. Mark has seen his family blessed by Broken and Mended and happily participates and gives back to the ministry however he can. Mark is a recorded Christian musician.

  • Gary Kennedy

    Gary Kennedy
    Secretary

    Gary lives in Kyle TX with his wife Cindy and two children. He worked in music education prior to being diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. Now he occupies his time as a self-employed stay-at-home dad.

  • Dr. Tim Gunnells
    Board Member

    Tim Gunnells is a preacher and a college professor and a happily married father of 4 children. He is in a daily battle with Psoriatic Arthritis in addition to other chronic health problems. He is glad to help support others in their battles with chronic pain and illness through the ministry of Broken and Mended.

  • Bethany Honaker
    Kenya Group Developer

    Bethany Honaker, a volunteer with Broken and Mended, is married with three children.  She works full time as a nurse case manager.  She lived in Nairobi, Kenya as a teenager while her parents served as missionaries with SIL.  She attended West Nairobi Chapel and graduated from West Nairobi School.  She has been a chronic disease warrior since she was a child, living with Hypermobile Ehler-Danlos Syndrome along with many other related chronic health issues and chronic pain.  She has been a Christian since she was a small child and without a doubt her faith is what sustains her during difficult days of pain and disability.

  • Paul Ochieng
    Kenyan Coordinator

    Paul Ochieng is an evangelist missionary and a preacher at Sigoti Church of Christ, a Kenyan coordinator with Broken and Mended. He is married to Phanice Aketch and has 3 kids. He has been having a knee problem after being involved in an accident and through his life story and experiences, He hopes to inspire more people and bring them closer to God.
