Broken and Mended Weekend in Sherman, TX

Katie and I are excited to come to Sherman, TX—not far from where I grew up—on March 21st-23rd at the Parkview Church of Christ. We hope our seminar will be meaningful to anyone who attends: people living with chronic illness and pain, loved ones of people suffering from chronic health issues, and families who have children with chronic illnesses. Everyone should fit into one or maybe all three categories.

If you don’t live in the Sherman area, I realize this event might not mean a lot to you. However, what we do in Sherman will become a template for doing the same in churches across the U.S. If you are interested in hosting a weekend like this, we could tailor it to your needs and schedule. Friday night: Our Story and the Story of Broken and Mended

Saturday morning: Lamenting our Losses (How to Grieve For Our Past So We Can Have a Future) and But Not Without Hope (How Hope Grows When Our Bodies Diminish).

Saturday afternoon: The Pain of Caregivers (When A Loved One Hurts, Everyone Hurts), Helping the Hurting (How To Be a Blessing to Your Hurting Family & Friends), Chronic Illness and Children (When Your Kid(s) Are Hurting).

Sunday morning: The Mission and Future of Broken and Mended (Bible class) and Why the Church Needs Its Chronically Ill Members (Sermon).

We hope this new opportunity will become a way to connect hurting people to Jesus and each other throughout the country, and become a catalyst to starting support groups in other churches/communities.

David Heflin

Executive Director

David Heflin is the founder, former president, and current executive director for Broken and Mended. He is married to Katie and has three kids. David was a preacher for over 20 years until he stepped down to focus fully on the mission of Broken and Mended. He started Broken and Mended in 2018 after being inspired by his own battle with chronic pain to connect other hurting people to Jesus and each other. David has a B.A. in Bible from Oklahoma Christian University and a Master of Arts in Religion from Azusa Pacific University. He resides in Woodward, OK.
