By Dr. Timothy Gunnells, President of the Board
I serve as the President of Broken and Mended because I can empathize with those who suffer from the pain, loneliness, and weariness that often come with chronic pain and illness. In fact, as I am writing this, I am in the middle of the worst Psoriatic Arthritis flare I have experienced in more than three years. If you struggle with this kind of disease, then you understand that even typing something meant to encourage others requires a level of focus and mindfulness that those who live relatively pain and disease-free lives usually do not comprehend.
The majority of us who are involved with Broken and Mended know firsthand what it is like to struggle with everything that comes with chronic pain and illness. That is why we want to bless you and others who struggle, along with those who walk alongside us. We know that going through this journey alone, without emotional and spiritual support, is not good. We need each other, and Broken and Mended exists for all of us.
I am so thankful for the resources we offer for people like you and me. Our podcasts, conferences, support groups, blog posts, and David Heflin’s new book (be sure to get a copy) are all for the purpose of support and encouragement.
In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Colossian Christians, he ends it by talking about his companions in ministry, who often go through hardships with him. There is something about sharing the journey together—knowing you are not alone—that makes challenges more bearable. It is my sincere hope that you will journey along with us as we seek to encourage each other on life’s journey.
Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your life. Please take advantage of the resources we offer and consider partnering with us in prayer and with monetary donations if you feel so moved. We are thankful to be able to bless others.
P.S: Registration for this year’s virtual conference is now live!
