Statement of Faith
- General Statement of Identity and Commitment
As the organization legally recognized as Broken and Mended Incorporated (BMI), we are Christians committed to enhancing the spiritual welfare of the chronically ill community. As such, we bind ourselves to act only within our best understanding of Scripture, the Word of God. To this principle only can we adhere. To do otherwise is to deny our identity and sin against our conscience. We especially affirm the following:
- Specific Affirmations
The Holy Bible: The Holy Bible is the authoritative written Word of God.
God divinely inspired people to produce this written account of God’s revelation of Himself to humankind. It alone is the final authority for determining all doctrinal truths. The Bible is inspired by God and infallible. As such, the following affirmations are made in light of our understanding of the Bible. (Deut. 4:1-2; Psalms 19:7-10; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25-26; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21)
The Trinity: There is one God, eternally co-existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal (without beginning and without end). (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 3:7-11; I John 5:7)
Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is God the Son, the Second Person of the Trinity. Jesus is fully God and fully man. He is a descendant of King David and heir to all the promises made through the covenant to Israel. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died on a cross for humankind, by which he atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, intercedes on our behalf, and will return in power and glory, at which time every living being will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1&14, 20:28; Philippians 2:5-6; I Timothy 2:5-6, 3:16; Philippians 2:9-11)
Redemption: Humanity was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression, it fell into corruption. Humanity’s only hope for redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As stated above, this redemption was accomplished through Jesus’ death on the cross.

The Church: The Church is the fulfillment of Israel’s destiny, the people of God, as the children of Abraham through faith in Israel’s Messiah, Jesus Christ. We are called upon to maintain the “unity of the Spirit” and live out our lives in Christian community, consisting of mission and worship together. Though salvation requires an individual response, a faithful Christian life can only be lived within the context of the Church. BMI is not a church but partners with local churches regularly to accomplish its mission.
The Family: The family is an institution established by God. As recounted in Genesis, God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, thus He created woman. God instituted marriage between a man and a woman, thereby creating the human family. Children are God’s blessing to the family. (Genesis 2:18, 21-25; Psalm 127:3).
